Shamanic Medicine

Practicing shamanic medicine is quite different from conventional medicine. Conventional medicine focuses on getting rid of a symptom. We have grown so accustom to this that many people don't even know a different kind of medicine.
Natural medicine works to physically heal the body. This requires work from the body and a process that the body must go through. When people function on this level, it is important to treat them on that level. Belief in the process is a huge part of the healing process.
Using shamanic medicine is an entirely different form of treatment. This is for people that are ready to change their mind, which in turn changes their reality. This is a healing shift at an energetic level. It is the same level that is achieved through natural medicine, but the focus is on the mental shift and not the physical process. The mental shift can be achieved by going through the physical process by many, and some even require this physical process to occur in order to truly believe the shift has happened.
Often in practice I find that people move so smoothly through a shift that they barely realize it's happening, sometimes don't notice at all until I ask if they still are experiencing the issue.
When working with shamanic medicine, it requires an elevation of the spirit/mind. (These are the same in Chinese Medicine and are simply referred to as "shen".) The person's intention must be clear and then a remedy can be chosen. During the ingesting of the remedy, the person must be focused and observant. They will be receiving information in a manner they are not accustom to and can find it awkward and somewhat unbelievable.
This process of learning to receive the information is a large part in healing and using shamanic remedies. It is the key - it opens a portal to your higher self and a truth to who you are. While this will not make life perfect by any means, it will make the person closer to themselves. And really, what else are we doing but working towards being our best selves?
