Mantic Arts

The Mantic Arts is the study of Astrology, Feng Shui and Chinese Medicine.  It is all based on a cosmology, a view of the universe that is very human.  These three disciplines all different aspects of the same thing, namely what is means to be human.

Fate Analysis is looking at your birth chart in order to help define the strengths and weaknesses of your character.  Once your character is clearly defined we can look at what fate you were born into in this life.  By considering your character and understanding the challenges you are meant to face in life, we can clarify what you could do to come out in the best position afterwards as well as the best times for big moves, new relationships, and the important things in your life that will get you on your path.  While there may be events  that are meant to happen in your life, you reaction to things is always entirely your own and where your power lies.  Intelligent use of this power is the intention behind this kind of a reading.  (To purchase a session please go to the services page.)

Feng Shui and Astrology, as utilized in fate analysis are about proper placement and its meaning.  Feng Shui is the earthly practice while Astrology is the heavenly practice.  Chinese Medicine is about the harmony created or broken from the causal behavior from the placement and movement in time and space.  The medicine is meant to re-harmonize one with the universe, the self, one's Tao.

This is the story of cycles of human existence and how you fit in.  Nothing in the world is new and our experience is a blend of the character we are born with, the fate we are born with and our free will behind how we decide to manifest our reality.  The Chinese concept of astrology is an attempt to understand patterns through observations for thousands of years through the application of this initial understanding of the place of humanity in the cosmos.

It is thought that writing in China began over 3,500 years ago with the intent to record divinations on turtle shells.  These were rituals done at certain times of the year based on what was happening in the heavens.  If an astrological event occurred, such as a meteor shower there was an attempt to divine the meaning.  This is the beginning of Chinese mysticism.  From here on the process became more and more refined through the observation of patterns in the internal world and deep introspection in order to be in touch with a higher kind of Truth.

The closest analogy we have to this practice would be the involvement of the Catholic Church in Western society.  Although the power structure was very different;  while the Catholic Church assumed supreme authority, the practice of Mantic Arts in China and the government was done in service to the Emperor who was in service to the Heavens.  (Heaven is Chinese philosophy is not the same as heaven in Western religious philosophy.  Heaven to the Chinese included all the celestial bodies in the sky and all the ancestors and heavenly guides and beings that make up the immaterial world.)  The goal was to be in harmony across all planes of existence.

It was a given understanding in this mystical practice that we are not inherently material.  Instead we have become materialized for this life cycle, but it is not the true nature, only a part of it.  When one takes this kind of perspective it becomes easier to observe with some objectivity.  The art of detachment, of being compassionate while not being overly invested takes on a feasibility that is difficult to see otherwise.  All things come and go, there is an ebb and flow to life.  Understanding this in order to live your best life is the goal of the Mantic Arts.
