"The great way is very smooth, yet the people prefer mountain paths.

The court is clean swept,

The fields are overgrown with weeds,

The granaries are empty;

Yet there are those dressed in fineries,

With sharp swords at their sides,

Filled with food and possessed of excessive wealth.

This is known as being a bandit chief.

A bandit chief is, indeed, a far cry from the way."

This quote from Lau Tzu serves as a reminder as to what it means to be a proper leader. A true leader of the people does not prop themselves up above others - A true leader who takes from his own people is nothing but a bandit.

Knowing this is clear sight. The clarity required for knowing the Tao.
