As of November 22nd, we have entered into the qi node "little snows". This is the time of year when the first freezes come and we get hints of snow. Of course this varies with your local geography, but thinking of the Northern Hemisphere as whole this is the climate that begins to develop.
We see how winter settles in. Food is mostly what is stored, the last harvest has been collected and we live on foods that can survive the winter such thick skinned gourds, squashes, foods that have been preserved and stocks made from bones to provide extra nourishment to stored grains made into stews or porridges. Yang has given way to yin and a different energy takes over.
Yin energy is deep and slow. It gathers in the quiet and carries the yang deep within, treading smoothly through the days and nights as the earth settles. Using your yang or being too yang now is a mistake which will make you feel exhausted. Big endeavors and too many plans will cause you to miss the nourishment and wisdom that comes from the winter season. Slowing down allows you to know yourself and your truth, and appreciate all that is around you. This practice of quiet introspection is what gives life meaning and gives activity purpose. To just be active with no real purpose is a waste.
This is the time of year to drop things that are high maintenance, it is too expensive. Reprioritize to the people who you are intimate with and allow the others to drop. It is natural to be less available now - This can recalibrate you so you know where you have value. Do not give if it makes you tired, hone your skills to what is needed. Establish your value.
